Are you curious about witchcraft and wondering where to start or have a new witch in your life and you would live to find a thoughtful non-Wiccan based book on building a magical practice? Well, these are my suggestions. -Alex

A Practical Guide for Witches: Spells, Rituals, and Magic for an Enchanted Life Ylvadroma Marzanna Radziszewski

This is my new go-to guide for new witches. It is a witchcraft based in nature and elements and untangles religion from witchcraft as a practice but shows a deeply spiritual pursuit by a self identified animistic pantheist. It is thoughtful and really friendly. The author is also one of the folks behind the lovely Living Altar Oracle.

Magical Power for Beginners: How to Raise & Send Energy for Spells That Work by Deborah Lipp

Ok, I know the title and cover of this book are a bit cheezy, bu really enjoy the coversational tone of this book and the adaptability of the techniques. The author is Wiccan and using language of Wicca but also acknowledges that this book is not necessarily Wiccan and this information can definitley be used in other magical systems.

Weave the Liminal: Living Modern Traditional Witchcraft by Laura Tempest Zakroff

This book is great at showing you how to build a practice that suits living in this modern world.

Grovedaughter Witchery: Practical Spellcraft by Bree NicGarran

This is a great practical jumping off point to study witchcraft with a non-denominational, and secular leaning in approach.
