Caboose #7 Britney Spears 101
by Liz Mason
What started out as a companion zine to go with my submission to a mixtape club turned into a 100+-page illustrated series of essays reconstructing pop stardom, consumerist empires, obsession and public scrutiny, as seen through the lens of fascination with Britney Spears.
And then on top of that there's the added lens of my experience undergoing treatment for cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) that makes its way into this issue, though weirdly, there are many moments of hilarity.
Features/Essays include:
Favorite song overviews, "Conspicuous Consumption: A Review of the Clothing Line 'Candies: By Britney Spears'"
relevant book reviews
Britney as Muse vs Vessel
an interview with the filmmaker of "Stages: 3 Days In Mexico Starring Britney Spears,"
Britney fragrance reviews
Britney-related events, art and more.I didn't mean for this to be so long but then it, well, it was so long I had to get it bound like a book instead of a zine. Even still, it's still Caboose #7.
